چکیده
Abstract Purpose Soil structure evolving from physical and biological processes is closely related to soil mechanical characteristics texture. We studied the influence of substrate genotype on initial development traits, differences between depths, changes over course two years in field. Methods Plots were homogeneously filled with a loam sand planted maize ( Zea mays L.) genotypes (wild type (WT) rth3 mutant) contrasting root hair attributes. Undisturbed cores taken 2019 2020 at 14 34 cm depth. Confined uniaxial compression tests performed determine pre-compression stress (σ pc ), compressibility (C c , C s ) elasticity index (EI). Mechanical energy was calculated based penetration resistance (PR) penetrometer needle resembling geometries. Results σ significantly higher as compared sand, whereas factor proved be negligible. Over time, increased decreased declined both substrates. Higher energies observed partially WT. Required than depth sand. Airdry samples required four times much those matric potential (Ψ m -50 kPa. Conclusion For traits examined texture dominating stability could within short period time.

CO(2) Compensation Concentration in Maize (Zea mays L.) Genotypes.
Heichel and Musgrave (4, 5) reported photosynthetic rates of maize genotypes ranging from 21 to 85 mg CO2 dmhr-' which were inversely associated with similar large differences in CO2 compensation concentration of from 9 to 25 plll. Since genotypic differences of the magnitude reported by Heichel and Musgrave would be of great value in breeding for increased photosynthetic efficiency, we conduct...

An association mapping panel, named as CIMMYT Asia association mapping (CAAM) panel, involving 396 diverse tropical maize lines were phenotyped for various structural and functional traits of roots under drought and well-watered conditions. The experiment was conducted during Kharif (summer-rainy) season of 2012 and 2013 in root phenotyping facility at CIMMYT-Hyderabad, India. The CAAM panel wa...

Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation is an effective method for introducing genes into maize. In this chapter, we describe a detailed protocol for genetic transformation of the maize genotype Hi II. Our starting plant material is immature embryos cocultivated with an Agrobacterium strain carrying a standard binary vector. In addition to step-by-step laboratory transformation proced...

The effect of low growth temperature on morpho-physiological traits of maize was investigated by the means of a QTL analysis in a segregating F(2:3) population grown under field conditions in Switzerland. Chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, leaf greenness, leaf area, shoot dry weight, and shoot nitrogen content were investigated at the seedling stage for two years. Maize was sown on two dates ...
متن کاملPhysiological Strategies to Improve the Performance of Spring Maize (Zea mays L.) Planted under Early and Optimum Sowing Conditions
Low temperature at stand establishment and high temperature at reproductive stage are involved in reduction of grain yield of spring maize. A field study was therefore conducted to evaluate different physiological strategies for improving performance of spring maize under temperature extremes. Seed priming and foliar spray with 3% moringa leaf extract (MLE) and 100 mg L-1 kinetin solution alone...
